Blauw licht van schermen en blue light blocker bril

Blue light blocker, why?

Blue light occurs in the sun's rays and most other forms of light.

Most exposure to harmful blue light is caused by screens of, for example, your phone and laptop, but also simply from your light bulb!

The sun contains all colors of light. Red, orange, green and blue. All these colors transmit with different amount of energy. For example, red light has longer wavelengths and less energy. Blue light has short wavelengths and more energy.

Block blue light
To reduce the effects of blue light you can think of blue light blocking glasses.

There are hundreds of studies showing that wearing blue blocker glasses works. The biggest benefit mentioned is better sleep quality.

Better sleep quality
Just like the sun wakes you up in the morning, a screen in the evening does the same. This is of course not what you want.

The blue light suppresses the production of your body's own melatonin and you sleep less deeply.

In the absence of blue light, the light-sensitive ganglion cells in your retina are not activated to produce melanopsin and thereby produce enough melatonin.
Activation of melanopsin suppresses melatonin production.

Are all blue blockers effective?
Various computer glasses or blue light blocking glasses are offered.
The variant with light yellow or clear glasses filter between 5% and 20% blue light. For this reason, they are not suitable to use to improve your sleep quality.

Selecting Blue Blockers

The Blueblockers of the Primal Boys have been selected to filter the required light spectrum that is necessary for the run-up to a good night's sleep. A good Blue Blocker blocks the light spectrum up to 500 nanometers and filters all the blue and partly the green light. These glasses are orange or red in color. There is a lot of scientific evidence that wearing blue light filter glasses contributes to a better night's sleep and a longer deep sleep. Our glasses are selected on these criteria.
